Why this page is not a price list

Modeling projects start at $100. That is a genuine starting point for a single, straightforward part, and it is the only figure we can publish without misleading you. Any other number on a website would be a guess wearing a price tag.

A price list assumes that every part is the same shape, the same size and the same amount of work. Parts are not. Two brackets that look similar to the eye can differ by hours of measuring and checking once the interfaces, the tolerances and the required file formats are taken into account.

So instead of a table that would not apply to your case, this page explains the real drivers. For an actual figure, send three things: how many parts, where the finished part has to be delivered, and which material or file format you need back. With those three answers, the quote is a quote rather than a range.

What actually moves the price

These are the factors that decide a quote, listed roughly in the order they change it. None of them is a surcharge invented at the end — each one is real work, and each one can be discussed before the project starts.

The same list is used to build every quote, so there are no surprises after the scope is agreed.

Factor	What it changes
Part count	One part is one job. A set of parts that has to fit together is a larger job, because every interface between them must be modelled and checked separately.
Surface complexity	Flat plates and simple brackets are fast to build. Organic shapes, blended fillets, textured grips and free-form surfaces take considerably longer to model and longer to verify.
Reverse engineering	If the part already exists and has to be measured, scanned, or rebuilt from fragments, that measuring work is part of the project rather than a hidden extra.
How complete your information is	Clear photos, a few real dimensions and the mating parts in frame all reduce the work. Missing information is not a penalty charge — it simply means more measuring and more confirmation.
File formats you need	A print-ready mesh is one deliverable. A dimensioned solid or editable CAD model is a different, more demanding one, because it has to be built so it can be changed later.
Rendering or drawings	Photoreal renders, exploded views, dimensioned drawings and assembly notes are separate deliverables that sit outside the modelling work itself.
Engineering consultation	Design review, material selection, load paths and print-orientation advice beyond the standard model check are consulted work, not modelling work.

What every project includes, whatever the price

Some things are not optional extras. Whether the job is small or large, the following are part of it, and they are the reason a quoted file arrives ready to use.

A full model check and printability review before the file is released: wall thickness, overhangs, clearances and watertightness.
Dimension confirmation — we tell you which measurements actually matter and check the ones you send, instead of quietly assuming them.
Print orientation advice, so the part is set up to be printed in the direction it was designed to be made in.
Agreed revision rounds inside the confirmed scope, so ordinary back-and-forth is not billed as new work.
Deliverable files in the formats agreed at the review stage: print-ready mesh, solid model, or editable CAD.

Some requests change the size and the risk of a project enough that they are priced on their own, after the base modelling work is understood. These are the items:

How much does 3D modeling cost?

Modeling projects start at $100. Everything above that is decided by the part itself. Part count, surface complexity, how much information you can supply and the file formats you need are the four biggest drivers. Send those four things and you get a fixed figure for your project instead of a public average that would never have applied to it.

Why can I not simply see a price list?

Because a price list for this kind of work would be fiction. Two parts that look similar can differ by a large multiple once interfaces, tolerances and file formats are taken into account, and a published table would either overcharge the simple jobs or underprice the difficult ones. We would rather quote your part than average everyone else's.

What do you need from me for an accurate quote?

Three answers: how many parts, where the finished part has to arrive, and the material or file format you need back — print-ready mesh, solid model, or editable CAD. Photos or a sketch help us catch anything that would change the figure, but those three answers are enough to get a real quote moving.

Does an editable CAD file cost more than an STL?

Yes, and for a good reason. A print-ready mesh is an export; an editable, dimensioned solid model is the model itself, built so that it can be revised later. If you expect to change the part in future, the editable version is the one worth paying for, and we will say so before work starts rather than after.

Is printing included in the modeling price?

No. Printing, prototyping and small-batch production are always a separate line on the quote, so you can see exactly what the model costs on its own. Many customers take the files and print locally, which is a normal outcome rather than a lost sale, and it keeps the comparison between suppliers honest.

Do you charge for the review or the quote?

No. Reading what you send, telling you what is missing, and quoting the work are free, and they happen before any modelling is charged. If the information turns out not to be enough to model from, you hear that at the review stage rather than after an invoice has been issued.
